Rafał Kapica
1980
Painter, illustrator, poster artist, graphic designer
Rafał Kapica was born in Pyskowice. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts and Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. He defended his diploma in the studio of Eugeniusz Get-Stankiewicz.
He is one of the multidimensional artists, not limiting himself to one subject. In his paintings, diverse in content and form, original color and technique are evident. All his paintings are united by an attempt to capture light, time or movement, and experience space. Characteristic features of his work include pulsating and flickering colors, distinctive texture, color applied in dots and spots, contrasts of complementary colors and glazing. Sometimes symbolic and pictographic drawing is visible on the canvas, most often achieved in relief. The artist consistently creates in the traditional technique of oil painting on linen canvas. The alternating influences of op-art, impressionism and expressionism are evident in the form of his work. The content of Kapica's paintings is broad symbolism, more or less balancing on the border of abstraction.
The uniqueness of Rafał Kapica's painting is complemented by his statement: "Actually, the painter should not paint, he should only let the colors come to life, they will speak for themselves. Then things will be happening..."
