The latest exhibition at 101 projekt Gallery is of paintings by Zbigniew M. Dowgiałło - a graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and one of the most prominent artists of his generation. Zbigniew M. Dowgiałło is a "total artist", not only a painter, but also a film director, a scriptwriter, a set designer, a composer, a producer and a creator of 2D and 3D animation.
He debuted as a painter, before his studies, in 1979. In the 1980s he was the precursor and the leading representative of the New Expressionism. He exhibited his works with Wojciech Tracewski.
Zbigniew Dowgiałło’s paintings were presented in the most important exhibition of that time: in Norblin Factory ("Co słychać" exhibition) and in the National Museum in Warsaw ("Realizm radykalny- Abstrakcja Konkretna" exhibition). Since 1987 he has co-operated with Anna Gruszczyńska, creating visions of the art of the future - baroque and cosmic paintings and architectural designs of the cosmic era.
"Every artist has to develop - to strive where nobody has gone before - to the stars. Lack of development is stagnation, a retreat, becouse the whole world is racing ahead. Space is transcendence and the boundlesnesss of freedom represents an unattainable beauty" - the artist states.
The title of exhibition and one of the artist’s paintings - Cosmodios - perfectly encapsulates the meaning of the universe in the artist’s creation. The main ideas in Zbigniew Dowgiałło’s paintings are freedom, beauty, space, revelation. Each idea can be found in the artist’s works, executed in traditional oils.
